SNEH, the club situated at the beautiful Lac L’eau d’heures, was our guest. Always sympathetic and always warmly welcomed.
In the grass, which was far too high, 4 finnists put up their tents. The first clash was already being fought, because the place was full of nettles. I had to lose out here. It was impossible to get to the entrance of my tent without being severely irritated. Sigurd’s jumping tent forced me to move more and more in the direction of the nettles. The first battle of the weekend.
Two guests in their own car and one B&B guest.
The club provided spaghetti for €9 the first evening.
Unfortunately, the wind did not come up. And those who know the Platte Taille know that this brings wind twists and frustrations.
But that gives opportunities to Joris and Bart, who are feeling their breath more and more and sometimes even show their mirror. We are doing our best to help them and quickly bring them up to the average level of the group. Because it has to be said that this is getting better and better and therefore closer together. Illustration of this is that we have 5 people who could win a series. Filip Willems, Sigurd, Frederik, Filip Verhaeghe and myself. Several series where the difference between 1st and 6th place is less than 1 minute.
On Sunday a little more wind, but wind changes of 30°, so again a lot of changing positions and a lot of cursing on board of some boats. But the changing positions gave everyone the feeling of playing along, making it really fun for everyone.
On Saturday evening, the whole team went out for a steak. Everyone got a steak of more than 500 grams on their plate. Hm, an address to remember!
In the end we had to acknowledge our superiority and Sigurd as the big winner of this competition.
He received the memorial trophy Philippe Devillers from his wife Isabelle, who had come to the award ceremony especially for this occasion.
It was a nice reunion.
It was nice to be able to compete against and with each other again.
It is always nice, that Finn-sailing.
We can’t wait for the next meeting.
Your proud chairman,
